Scuba diving in Porthkerris
Scubacrew-sers were in PorthKerris Cornwall over the long weekend. Diving was called off on the Friday due to bad weather but this did not stop them they visited the Eden Project and the Pub off course. We had our evening meal in the Three Tuns Pub on the square in St Keverne and the food was very good with large portions.
Saturday morning saw a big improvement in the weather enabling us to get on and do some shore diving. The reef is filled with dead mans fingers and the kelp grows three meters high and very thick at places. Lots of fish to sea and the water was 16 degrees so no need for hoods and gloves. Coming out the sea was still very rough making the exit on to the beach not very easy. Once we all crawled hands and knees back onto the beach and the laughter stopped we were ok. Saturday night was the big BBQ and there was way too much food and drink. We were very lucky with the weather and had about two minutes of rain for the entire evening.
Sunday was our boat dive ropes off at twelve and we were booked on the Kitten. Skipper was very good full briefing on the wreck and hooked the shot line on first time. Visibility was around five meters with hardly any current running. Explored the entire wreck but could not find any lobster’s or scallops so came home empty handed. Sunday night we had a meal in the White Hart Pub and again the food was very good with plenty to eat.
Weather forecast for Monday was not good so to avoid the traffic most of us set of home Monday morning after breakfast missing the traffic. Great weekend and everybody had a fantastic time. Looking forward to going back.
