Padi Open Water Course Berkshire.
Scubacrew’s latest Padi open water course was held in Slough and Maidenhead Berkshire on the 18th & 19th of August. We started with our classroom session where all the students had to come prepared with all their home work completed. We went through all the knowledge reviews with them, ensuring they understood what they have learned. Padi materials is very specific to the topic and the crewpack we use, includes everything the Padi Open Water student requires to complete the course. The Padi Open Water DVD has to be watched at home while doing the knowledge reviews. Once we had gone through the knowledge reviews we taught the students how to assemble the scuba unit. They got to practice this several times, ensuring they have the knowledge to do it and wont forget it. We then did the Open Water quiz exam and then the final exam completing the classroom session.
We headed of to Maidenhead Berkshire where we had the pool booked and started with Padi confined water one & two where we teach the students all the required safety drills for the Padi open water course. A pretty long day but very rewarding! On the Sunday morning we met at the pool in Maidenhead again to complete our confined water three, four and five training. Most of the students had already purchased their mask, snorkel, boots and fins from the shop in Slough and were using their own basic equipment. As members of our Scuba club Scubacrewsers get 5% discount on all equipment in the store please see Gary or Paul. Three of the nine students did a Padi Open Water referral course as they had a fantastic holiday planned and did not want to spend the time in a classroom and pool.
The following weekend saw us all meeting at Wraysbury dive centre for our Padi Open Water part of the course. On the Saturday all the students did two Open Water dives where they got a chance to demonstrate what they have learned in the pool. All their Padi logbooks were updated after the dives stamped and signed for future reference. Sunday followed basically the same pattern meeting at nine at Wraysbury Dive Centre station rd and we completed Padi Open Water dives three and four. All the students had great fun and found the course challenging and rewarding what a fine qualification to earn! With their Padi Open water certification all these students are now able to dive anywhere in the world as deep as 18 meters with a buddy knowing they will be safe as they have learned all the skills required. With Scubacrew safety always comes first.
